Jerry Wade Laton

Jerry Wade Laton, 83, of Albemarle, passed away Thursday December 14, 2017. His funeral service will be 2 PM Monday December 18, 2017 at Lakeview Baptist Church with Rev. Tab Whitley officiating. Burial will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory.  The family will receive friends on Sunday December 17 from 6 PM until 8 PM at Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care.

Jerry was born on June 20, 1934 in Stanly County, NC and was the son of the late James “Nub” Laton and Jessie Mae Laton. He graduated from Albemarle High School in 1952 and worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation as a project inspector for 36 years. Mr. Laton was a 59 year active member of the Masons-Stanly Lodge 348, Albemarle Lion’s Club and a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. Jerry enjoyed playing golf, fishing and was an avid hunter locally and all over the Middle Western States. He will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Linda of the home and his children, Diane Talbert of Albemarle, NC, Eddy (Cindy) Laton of Albemarle, NC, Gail Vaughan of Marshville, NC and Linda’s children, who he loved as his own, Kelley (Lisa) Blalock of Marshville, NC, Cindy (Bobby) Barfield of Norwood, NC, Tracy (Amy) Blalock of Albemarle, NC, twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, a brother Roger Laton of Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lakeview Baptist Church, 32496 Pennington Rd., Albemarle, NC, 28001.

    So sorry to hear about Jerry. I loved talking deer hunting with him. He was a great man and we will all miss him. I’ve had some medical issues and could not attend the services but please know that you guys are in our thoughts and prayers!

    Our deepest and sincerest condolences to the family. Words alone can not ease the pain when grieving the loss of a love one. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3-4 states, “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away”. May God give you and your family comfort in your loving memories and in His promise that soon we will never experience losing our loved ones in death and we will be able to see them again once they resurrected as per John 5:28-29. May these words give you a new hope, with deepest sympathy and warmth of heart.

    Jerry was a Long-Time, Valuable Member of the Albemarle Lions Club. He was also a Very Kind and Thoughtful Man. Linda and Jerry were Very Fortunate to have been married to each other..

We never felt hurried or rushed in any way even though they had other funerals that day.  Everyone at Stanly Funeral Home made us feel like we were family and did everything they could for us in this most trying time in our lives.

Everyone went out of their way to make sure that every detail was good with me.  Their kindness, patience and love they show is superior.  Stephen Aldridge and his ENTIRE staff are the best.
