Dwight Lee Almond

Dwight Lee Almond, 62, of Albemarle, NC, passed away Friday April 27, 2018 in his home. His funeral service will be 2 PM Friday May 4, 2018 in the Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care Chapel of Albemarle with Rev. Jim Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 PM until 8 PM at Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care.

Dwight was born August 23, 1955 in Stanly County, NC and was the son of the late Walter Columbus Almond and Annie Belle Furr Almond. He was employed with Superior Mechanical Services of Charlotte. He truly loved his family, loved to go deep sea fishing, loved Nascar Racing and loved Tarheel Basketball.

Mr. Almond is survived by his wife Kelly Cochran Almond of the home. Other survivors include a son Christopher D. Almond (Lindsey) of Fayetteville, NC; two daughters Jamie Nicole Stirewalt (Eric) and Jessica Erin Black both of Concord, NC;a brother Steve Allen Almond (Irma) of Albemarle, NC; sister Karen Almond McLendon (Sidney) of Albemarle, NC; six grandchildren Brennan Almond, Max Almond, Jaden Havens, Gage Simpson, Madison Stirewalt and Shelby June Stirewalt and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Roberta United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3925 Cochran Road, Concord, NC 28027.

    May God be especially close to all the family at this time. Our hearts are filled with sweet memories of times growing up as cousins and we will always cherish them, The priviledge of sharing time with Dwight has been taken from us,but the gift of his memory will never be taken.

    We all have broken hearts as our cousin has been taken too soon. Kelly we are praying for you and your family for comfort and strength that we know you will need for a long time to come. We remember Dwight and all the good times growing up with all our families getting together and everyone out having fun. We will always remember Dwight in our hearts.

    I am so sorry for your loss and my prayers are with you all.
    Dwight was my best friend all through school and when you saw one
    Of us you would see the other. We had a lot of great times together some
    Good some bad but they were all of two great friends. Love to all.

Stanly overwhelmingly met or exceeded our family’s expectations. Family and friends both expressed how thoughtful, caring and professional they were. We’re glad you’re in Locust!


We never felt hurried or rushed in any way even though they had other funerals that day.  Everyone at Stanly Funeral Home made us feel like we were family and did everything they could for us in this most trying time in our lives.


Everyone went out of their way to make sure that every detail was good with me.  Their kindness, patience and love they show is superior.  Stephen Aldridge and his ENTIRE staff are the best.


The whole staff was wonderful but Stephen Aldridge was excellent, even sending us a note one month later.
