Frank Leon Smith, 52, of Park Ridge Road, Albemarle and formerly of Smith Grove Rd, Oakboro, NC passed away Saturday August 16, 2008 in Spring Arbor Assisted Living Facility.

His funeral will be 2 PM Monday August 18th, 2008 at Red Cross Baptist Church with Rev. Garry Baker officiating and burial will be in Red Cross Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born July 27, 1956 in Stanly County, NC, Mr. Smith was the son of the late Floyd C. and Lillie Smith. He was a 1974 graduate of West Stanly High School. He was a former land farmer and cattle farmer and Truck Driver with S.J. Flowe Grading of Midland, NC. He was a Member of the Stanly County Cattleman's Association.

He was a member of Red Cross Baptist Church where he was very faithful and active in his church life, including singing in the church choir as long as his health permitted.

Survivors include a daughter, Jamie Hathcock and husband JR of Albemarle and sister Larcenia Smith of Oakboro. Two sisters preceeded him in death: Geraldine Fairfax and Dorothy Gould.

The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday evening from 6 until 8 PM. Memorials may be made to Red Cross Baptist Church, 1104 N. Oak Ridge Rd., Oakboro, NC 28129.
