Mrs. Betty Magilene Daniel Lanier born July 22, 1931 went home to heaven on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. She was reunited with her husband and the love of her life of 61 years, Rev. Gerald Lanier as well as her daughter – Geraldine Lanier, her great granddaughter – Maeghan Edwards, her parents – Hurley and Sally Daniel as well as all her brothers and sisters. Most of all she was united with her Savior, Jesus Christ.  Her funeral service will be 2 PM Thursday, January 25, 2018 in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel, Albemarle.  Burial will follow in the Locust First Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 PM.

Mrs. Lanier prayed as a young girl for the Lord to bless her to be a pastor’s wife and not only did He answer that prayer she lived that calling selflessly and faithfully. She was truly a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a dear friend to many and an example of a godly woman.

Mrs. Lanier is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law Richard and Janet McKnight of Stanfield, five grandchildren which she was so proud of and loved dearly: Amy Morton (Jamie), Chad VonCannon (Kimberly), Mika Edwards (Dion), Judith Downs (Scott), and Jonathan Barbee (Brandi). She also loved and cherished her twelve great grandchildren.

Mrs. Lanier was a special aunt to her nieces, Francis Fowler, Ruby Hulin, and Lynn Garner who cherish her memory.
