Dean is survived by her daughter Teresa Lynn Maslowski (Jerry) of Albemarle and son Jeffery C. She was known as Grandma Dee Dee by her 3 great granddaughters, Ava McLester of Arizona, Lila Jean and Piper Grace Watkins of Oxford, NC, all girls that she loved dearly. She is also survived by her sister, Frances Gilbert (Melvin) of Oakboro, NC and brother Bob Thompson (Jean) of Oakboro, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dean was the most giving compassionate person. She chose to volunteer for Hospice of Stanly County because giving back was who she was. She was charming, witty, and always had a strong faith in God. She was a devoted and loyal member of Big Lick Baptist Church for over 60 years and was a true and faithful servant to her Lord. Dean had an infectious personality and never met many strangers. Some of her most memorable moments were spent at Holden Beach with her husband and family. Dean enjoyed trips with the Big Lick Goodtimers and trips to Hawaii to spend time with her daughter Teresa. She also traveled to New Mexico, Santa Fe, Colorado, and Canada. She was a beacon of light to her family. She was a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, friend but most of all she was a woman of faith.

The family wishes to thank the physicians and nursing staff of the 11th Tower at CHS Atrium for their love and expert care of our mother, and members and friends of Big Lick Church for their love and prayers.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Food Bank Stanly County or Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region 7845 Little Avenue Charlotte, NC 28226.

Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle is serving the Sasser family.

Stanly overwhelmingly met or exceeded our family’s expectations. Family and friends both expressed how thoughtful, caring and professional they were. We’re glad you’re in Locust!

We never felt hurried or rushed in any way even though they had other funerals that day.  Everyone at Stanly Funeral Home made us feel like we were family and did everything they could for us in this most trying time in our lives.

Everyone went out of their way to make sure that every detail was good with me.  Their kindness, patience and love they show is superior.  Stephen Aldridge and his ENTIRE staff are the best.

The whole staff was wonderful but Stephen Aldridge was excellent, even sending us a note one month later.
