Grady Wade Caviness

Grady Wade Caviness, 73, of Albemarle, N.C. passed away Sunday July 16, 2017 in his home. His funeral service will be 11 AM Wednesday July 19, 2017 in the Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care Chapel with Rev. Randy Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Poplin Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Stanly County DAV. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM at Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care.

Mr. Caviness was born on January 22, 1944 in Guilford County and was the son of the late Alfred Edwin “Babe” Caviness and Virginia Blanche Beam Caviness. He was a retired employee of the N.C. Department of Public Safety. Mr. Caviness was a Veteran of the U.S. Airforce serving during the Vietnam Conflict and a member of Poplin Grove Baptist Church. He was a coon hunter and he loved horses and dogs and was also a gun smith.

He is survived by his wife Carol Dick Caviness of the home. Other survivors include sons: Timmy Caviness and wife Kelly of Albemarle, N.C., Eddie Caviness of Albemarle, N.C., daughter DeAnna Caviness Huneycutt and husband Toby of New London, N.C., seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Caviness is preceded in death by a daughter Karen Caviness and son Neal Caviness and sister Carol Caviness Hayes.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Stanly & Uwharrie, 960 North First Street, Albemarle, N.C. 28001.

We never felt hurried or rushed in any way even though they had other funerals that day.  Everyone at Stanly Funeral Home made us feel like we were family and did everything they could for us in this most trying time in our lives.


Everyone went out of their way to make sure that every detail was good with me.  Their kindness, patience and love they show is superior.  Stephen Aldridge and his ENTIRE staff are the best.


The whole staff was wonderful but Stephen Aldridge was excellent, even sending us a note one month later.
