Celebrating The Life Of Loved Ones

Nancy Lowder Kerr

Nancy Lowder Kerr, age 84, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, December 21, after an extended stay in the hospital.  Her memorial service will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 26, at Bethany United Methodist Church in Albemarle. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.

Nancy worked as a secretary for the Albemarle Parks and Recreation Department for many years.  She had a love for making all kinds of crafts and teaching ceramic classes. Even though she retired from the City, she kept active by organizing pottery classes and going to local nursing homes to do arts and crafts with the residents. She enjoyed swimming at the YMCA, making crafts at home and spending time with her family and her dog, Bitsy. She was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church.  Nancy was awarded the Sally C. Stoker Achievement Award in March of 2016 and was honored by more than 120 people at the 21st annual Stanly County YMCA prayer breakfast.

Born March 1, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Edna Lowder.  Her husband, Jim Kerr preceded her in death.  She is survived by a son, Rusty Kerr, a daughter, Deborah Whitley; grandchildren, Ginny Smith and husband Lukas, Allison Brooks and husband Daniel, Jonathan Pease and wife Cameron and eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church (2411 US-52, Albemarle, NC 28001) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at http://giftfunds.stjude.org.

Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle is serving the Kerr family.

Stanly overwhelmingly met or exceeded our family’s expectations. Family and friends both expressed how thoughtful, caring and professional they were. We’re glad you’re in Locust!

We never felt hurried or rushed in any way even though they had other funerals that day.  Everyone at Stanly Funeral Home made us feel like we were family and did everything they could for us in this most trying time in our lives.

Everyone went out of their way to make sure that every detail was good with me.  Their kindness, patience and love they show is superior.  Stephen Aldridge and his ENTIRE staff are the best.

The whole staff was wonderful but Stephen Aldridge was excellent, even sending us a note one month later.
