Palmer W. Cook

Palmer W. Cook, 71, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday May 6, 2018 in CHS-Stanly. His memorial service will be 2 PM Saturday May 12, 2018 in the Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care Chapel of Albemarle with Rev. Keith Walters officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Stanly County DAV.

Palmer was born May 25, 1946 in Stanly County, NC and was the son of the late Joe Clabern Cook and Johnsie Mae Talbert Cook. He was a former employee of Phillip Morris of Concord, NC. Mr. Cook was a Veteran of the U.S. Airforce. Palmer loved gardening and loved his cats Toby and Buddy.

Mr. Cook is survived by his wife Sheila Cook of the home. Other survivors include four sons Palmer W. Cook, Jr. of Little Town, PA, Brian Cook of Morrisville, NC, Clabern Cook and Phillip Cook both of Granite Quarry, NC; four daughters Lisa C. Morgan of Salisbury, NC, Mary Cook of Carnagie, PA, Sarah Batten of China Grove, NC, Hannah Cook of Morrisville, NC; three brothers Roy Wesley Cook of Salisbury, NC, Robert Thomas Cook of Norwood, NC and John Garry Cook of Kannapolis, NC, a sister Patricia Ann Fraley of Albemarle, NC and three grandchildren Dusty Morgan, Jr., Felisaty Morgan and Hunter Cook.

Memorials may be made to Stanly County Humane Society, 2049 Badin Road, Albemarle, NC 28001.

Stanly overwhelmingly met or exceeded our family’s expectations. Family and friends both expressed how thoughtful, caring and professional they were. We’re glad you’re in Locust!


We never felt hurried or rushed in any way even though they had other funerals that day.  Everyone at Stanly Funeral Home made us feel like we were family and did everything they could for us in this most trying time in our lives.


Everyone went out of their way to make sure that every detail was good with me.  Their kindness, patience and love they show is superior.  Stephen Aldridge and his ENTIRE staff are the best.


The whole staff was wonderful but Stephen Aldridge was excellent, even sending us a note one month later.
