Sherrill Elon Williams, 83, of Albemarle passed away April 29, 2019 in his home.  His funeral service will be 11 AM Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Jirgal officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 PM at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle. 

Born May 28, 1935 in Troy, NC, he was the son of the late Willie Williams and Ida Mae Greene Williams.  He was a statistician with McDonnell Douglas.  Mr. Williams was a member of Anderson Grove Baptist Church.  He loved his Lord and Savior and enjoyed studying God’s Word.  He also enjoyed Ham Radio and was a licensed pilot and loved to fly. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Jacqueline Elizabeth Morton Williams.  He is survived by his wife Helen Carpenter Williams of the home, sons Michael Williams (Debbie) of Albemarle, Rick Williams (Annette) of Mt. Pleasant, and Doug Williams of Albemarle, and daughter Sharon Martinez (Abraham) of Raleigh, sisters Leah McIntyre of Troy, Janice Glover of Denton, and Joanne Leluan of Troy, and 5 grandchildren.  A brother Rupert Williams preceded him in death.

In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to Anderson Grove Baptist Church.

Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle is entrusted with arrangements.
