Celebrating The Life Of Loved Ones

Char Gruver

Char GruverChar Gruver, 66, of Oakboro passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.  A Celebration of her life will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Albemarle First Assembly with Dr. Randall Rogers, Dr. Charles Kelly, Pastor Bryan Rainbow and Rev. Mark Muirhead officiating.  Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.  The family will receive friends at Albemarle First Assembly on Friday evening from 6 until 9 PM.

Char was born February 28, 1949 in San Francisco, CA, to Miriam Westervelt of Mesa, AZ. Char is the 2nd oldest of six children. Growing up, she lived coast to coast from Washington to Idaho to Kansas, and then to Massachusetts.  Charlene graduated as the valedictorian of a college preparatory program from Bellingham Memorial High School in Massachusetts in June of 1967, an amazing feat considering she attended high school in 3 states.  Her academic accomplishments were matched by her athleticism, serving as the captain of her Basketball and Softball teams.

In the fall of 1967, she was off to the University of Iowa and became a member of the Delta Zeta sorority.  Pursuing a degree in mathematics served her well becoming a paid math tutor to the football team, which included her future husband, Robert Gruver. She graduated from Liberty University and was business administrator at First Assembly.  Char loved gardening and enjoyed board games and word puzzles with her family.  Her grandbabies were one of the most important things in her life.  She was dedicated to the Pregnancy Resource Center of Albemarle, where she served as Treasurer for over 15 years.

Char was married to the love of her life Pastor Bob Gruver for 46 years.  Her children are Brodie Gruver and wife Heather of Altlanta, GA, Chris DiBona and husband Christopher of Chapel Hill, NC.  She has a brother, Randall Grathwohl, and wife Beverly of San Francisco, sisters Denise Schmallen of Mesa, AZ, Roberta Selleck and husband Peter of Scottsdale, AZ, Valerie Knafelc and husband Jay of Colorado Springs, CO, and Rhonda Moore of Chandler, AZ, as well as 5 grandchildren, Elaina Gruver, Ethan Gruver, Jennifer DiBona, Lauren DiBona, and Michelle DiBona.

The family requests that, while flowers are welcomed, those wishing to make memorial donations may make them to Albemarle First Assembly, PO Box 516, Albemarle, NC 28002 for the benefit of the Pregnancy Resource Center.

Do you see that lady,

The one standing behind the tree,

Sometimes that’s all of her,

That you would ever see,

She went above and beyond,

No matter the task,

She almost always had an answer,

Before you could ever even ask,

Her soul is one that served,

She ensured all was “good to go”,

But who did all the work,

Few would ever know,

She never wanted the credit,

Or recognition for all she done,

But today she got her reward,

Because she’s dancing beyond the sun,

So when you think of this lady,

The one standing behind the tree,

May it inspire you to be God’s servant,

A testimony of her life, for all to see.

LYM Char,

    Char certainly was precious to many folks and to her family. She will be missed but Heaven is a little sweeter tonight because Char is there. We love you Bob.

      да btw, советую почитать ISO стандарт c++.по стандарту кодchar c=’0′;string str=”Text”+c;этоclass char c = __int32(0x30)class string str = __int32(char*(“Text”)) + __int32(c);т.е все приводится к классу int перед выполением стандартных операторов, незнать это тяжкий грех!напримерlonglong n;long t = 0;n = t -1;что будет в n? -1? ага три раза оно там будет. там будет 0xffffffffчто для lgonlong не -1.на х86 это нормально, а вот х64… таких программистов надо растреливать.char c=’0′;string str = string(“Text”)+c;приведение типов спасет этот мир.

    We’ve not known but Char but three short years but through those three years she has touched our hearts and lives more than many we’ve known all our lives.She was a true example of what a child of God is suppost to be.She gave sacrificely of her love to all and never expected anything in return. She will be greatly missed. We love the Gruver family and they have our hearts deepest prayers.

    Praying for the family. I know she is saying don’t cry for me I am with my Lord Jesus now.

      Хе-хе. Прикольно.std::string str = “Text” + c;В чём тут ошибка? Просто в понимании того, что определяет тип операции.1) компилятор анализирует типы и обнаруживаетstring = const char* + char2) что получаем теперь при вычислении?В первую очередь у нас будет вызван operator+ для встроенного типа const char*…И только потом он вызовет копирующий конструктор и создаст объект типа std::string.Это не ошибка программиста, развращённого C++, нет. Это особенность ООП-подхода конкретно в языке: вызываемый оператор определяется не возвращаемым типом, а левым операндом. И всего-то :)Варианты:#include int main (){ { //исходный вариант char c = ‘0’; std::string str = “Text” + c; std::cout << str << std::endl; } { //предпочитаю так char c = '0'; std::string str = "Text"; str += c; std::cout << str << std::endl; } { //но можно и так char c = '0'; std::string str = std::string("Text") + c; std::cout << str << std::endl; } ruretn 0;}

    Pastor Bob you have always been admired by Lolly and myself. I know your wife was a wonderful and loving wife. We have only visited your church several times with our Son, Walter. Please know we feel your pain and grief this moment, but knowing that she is in a better place for sure now and no more pain and suffering. We pray for your peace and serenity. God bless you and all your family.

      Забавно!недавно был очень похожий случай.есть функция:string addsign(char sign, const sitnrg & s){1) return sign+s; // так нельзя2) return sitnrg(s1)+s; //тоже нельзя3) return sitnrg(s1, 1)+s;// только так можно… но блин не сразу допетриваешь }Решил это сам проверить, на компиляторе gcc 3.4.2.вот такая программулинка:#include #include using namespace std;string addsign(char s1, const sitnrg & s){//1)return s1+s; // так нельзя//2)return sitnrg(s1)+s; //тоже нельзя//3)return sitnrg(s1, 1)+s;// только так можно… но блин не сразу допетриваешь//4)return sitnrg(&s1, 1)+s;}int main(int n, char **args){ sitnrg text = “1.9876”; sitnrg res = addsign(‘-‘, text); puts(res.c_str()); return 0;}выдала мне срвсем другое:первый вариант (как “нельзя”) выдал правильный результат: -1.9876, второй вариант – ошибку компиляции, а третий(который “только так и можно”) дал нечто невразумительное – кучу смеющихся рожиц и в конце-число 1.9876. Мне даже непонятно, как у автора сообщения получился нормальный результат.Последний (4-ый, “мой” вариант) дал тоже верный результат: -1.9876

    We are so sorry for your loss. Char is healed and at the feet of Jesus. Heaven gained another angel. All of you will be in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless each and everyone of you and that you feel the comfort from our Savior.

    • Misty Vaughn Posted October 8, 2015 7:32 pm

  • Jean Gruver Coffman Posted October 8, 2015 8:01 pm

    Bobby, Brodie and Chris and your families; I know that you know Char/Mom is in the magnificent arms of God. That is the ultimate goal for all Christ followers. She has arrived and is waiting and watching from that blessed destination. I pray that you each feel that love that have always felt but now it is wrapped in righteousness and perfection.

    Our deepest condolences and prayers to the Gruver Family

  • Ana Posted October 28, 2015 5:34 pm

    Our deepest and sincerest condolences to the family. Words alone can not ease the pain when grieving the loss of a love one. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3-4 states, “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away”. May God give you and your family comfort in your loving memories and in His promise that soon we will never experience losing our loved ones in death and we will be able to see them again once they resurrected as per John 5:28-29. May these words give you a new hope, with deepest sympathy and warmth of heart.

    Pastor Bob I didn’t realize this was your Char until the other day. So sorry for you and your family’s loss. Even though her wings were ready our hearts never will be the same without her and her smile. Prayers are with all. I’m sure she has fit right in with all the beautiful angels looking over us from Heaven.~

Stanly overwhelmingly met or exceeded our family’s expectations. Family and friends both expressed how thoughtful, caring and professional they were. We’re glad you’re in Locust!

We never felt hurried or rushed in any way even though they had other funerals that day.  Everyone at Stanly Funeral Home made us feel like we were family and did everything they could for us in this most trying time in our lives.

Everyone went out of their way to make sure that every detail was good with me.  Their kindness, patience and love they show is superior.  Stephen Aldridge and his ENTIRE staff are the best.

The whole staff was wonderful but Stephen Aldridge was excellent, even sending us a note one month later.
