Celebrating The Life Of Loved Ones

Saundra Hatley Elvin

On July 24, 2020 Saundra passed away after a very brief battle with cancer.

Saundra was born August 12, 1943 in Albemarle, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents James Everett and Dorothy Parker Hatley. She was a long time resident of Charlotte.

Growing up in Millingport she was an active member of Friendship United Methodist Church. Saundra graduated from Millingport High School. She attended Kings Business School in Charlotte where she graduated as a medical secretary. She worked in healthcare for 40 years and retired after 31 years with Atrium Health.

Her many sources of happiness and pleasure were her family, old movies, Instagram, antiques and spending time in Blowing Rock with her sisters. She loved fall, snow, and her large collection of dolls. She traveled throughout the United States and Europe and used her travels to add to her doll collection.

Saundra is survived by her sisters, Doris Burroughs (Bob), Marcelle Lowder, Reba Harris (Jeff) and nephew Jonathan Harris as well as many cousins of whom she was very fond.

Saundra loved her family, her country, and lived a patriotic and fulfilled life. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Because of the current pandemic, a private graveside service will be held at 9 AM on Tuesday, July 28th, 2020 at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to Friendship United Methodist Church, 24696 Hwy 73, Albemarle, NC 28001.

Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Locust is serving the family.

So sorry to hear about Saundra. She was always so kind to me growing up across the street from her and her family. May God greatly bless the family of Doris, Marcella and Reba with His peace as you grieve the loss of your precious sister.

Saundra was a joy to work with to her School Health co-workers! She always had a smile and a friendly face when I visited the School Health administrative office. I will always remember her laugh, smile and big brown eyes!❤️

Doris, We are sorry to hear of the loss of your sister Saundra. We worked with “The Sisters” at one of the BRCA Candidate Forums in Blowing Rock and enjoyed being with “The Sisters.” May God comfort you in the days ahead and know that you and Bob are in our prayers.

Stanly overwhelmingly met or exceeded our family’s expectations. Family and friends both expressed how thoughtful, caring and professional they were. We’re glad you’re in Locust!

We never felt hurried or rushed in any way even though they had other funerals that day.  Everyone at Stanly Funeral Home made us feel like we were family and did everything they could for us in this most trying time in our lives.

Everyone went out of their way to make sure that every detail was good with me.  Their kindness, patience and love they show is superior.  Stephen Aldridge and his ENTIRE staff are the best.

The whole staff was wonderful but Stephen Aldridge was excellent, even sending us a note one month later.
